About Cedar Fundraising
I created Cedar Fundraising to help organizations find the resources they need to change the world for the better. I deeply value community building and problem solving; I use these interests and skills to help organizations achieve great things.
I’ve been involved with non-profit organizations related to education and sustainability for most of my career. I began as an intern with the David Suzuki Foundation, which works to create a more sustainable Canada. I worked in development administration with the Vancouver Foundation (community foundation) and then spent seven years as Development Coordinator and Grants Officer for Science World in Vancouver.
During my tenure at Science World, I raised over 3.5 million dollars for the organization. In my career, I have developed expertise in fundraising operations and researching and applying for grants. I have worked with programs focused on sustainable food systems, Growing Chefs, as well as organizations that help people dealing with mental health issues, stigma, and trauma, such as the Vancouver Association for Survivors of Torture (VAST) and the Stigma-Free Society (SFS).
I also do a lot of volunteer work, especially in causes related to environmental stewardship and sustainable living. I serve on the board at SPEC, the Society Promoting Environmental Conservation. SPEC is the oldest environmental non-profit in Canada and has been fostering urban sustainability since 1969. I am excited about how SPEC harnesses the energy of passionate volunteers to build and sustain community programs that will help us all transition to a greener and more just society.
I have two young children, a miniature schnauzer and a family-style cargo bike. Our family recently moved into a new cohousing community in Vancouver. Cohousing is a style of living that combines private homes with shared resources and intentional community building. As cohousers, my family participates in the ongoing maintenance and management of our community. I am one of the leaders of our ‘Living in Community’ committee, which helps coordinate communal meals, events, and common spaces. I’m also part of the ‘Outsiders’ where I am helping establish a pollinator garden on the roof of our building!
