Black History Month is a time to recognize, honor, and celebrate the contributions and accomplishments of Black individuals throughout history. The special significance of Black History Month goes beyond just remembering the past. It’s also about educating the present and inspiring the future. By acknowledging and honoring the struggles, sacrifices, and achievements of Black individuals, we can better understand and appreciate the rich cultural heritage and contributions that they have made to society.

The nonprofit organization is dedicated to creating lasting change for Black families and communities by mobilizing resources, both financial and human.

CP Planning

CP Planning is a nonprofit organization that works to bring together local, public, non-profit, and private sector organizations in the land use development industry to invest in solutions that support the economic, social, and cultural rights of marginalized communities. Their mission is to ensure that everyone has access to good housing, job opportunities, an adequate standard of living, and cultural expression.

The organization envisions a world where people feel a sense of community and belonging, and to achieve this, they prioritize initiatives related to affordable housing, job training in the trades and urban agriculture, and access to community service spaces. CP Planning is among the charities that provide support and services to marginalized communities in these important areas.

CP Planning has launched the Black Futures Community Development Fund, an initiative aimed at supporting Black individuals and communities. This fund will provide paid employment, mentorship, training, and professional networking opportunities to help people coordinate investments in areas that will promote economic prosperity and increase access to affordable housing. The organization’s goal is to raise $50,000 by the end of February. By investing in the Black Futures Community Development Fund, you will be supporting the growth and success of Black individuals and communities, and helping to create a brighter future for all.

Black Boys Code focuses on improving the future of Black youth through education in computer science and technology. Their mission statement is to inspire and empower Black youth to become the next generation of digital creators and technological innovators. They strive to achieve this by helping young individuals develop their digital literacy and computer skills, which form the foundation for a career in technology.

The vision of the organization is for Black youth to understand their own strengths and talents and realize their full potential in the field of technology. As a charity dedicated to supporting Black youth education, they provide the necessary training, programs, and resources to help young people shape their own futures and succeed in the innovation economy.

Urban Triage Inc.

Urban Triage Inc. is a nonprofit organization that aims to promote and strengthen Black economic power, self-sufficiency, and community leadership through education, psychoeducation, community engagement, trauma response, healing, and cultural heritage. Concerned Black Alumni of Princeton Inc.

Society of Black Archaeologists

The Society of Black Archaeologists (SBA) is an organization that focuses on the histories and material cultures of Black and African communities in archaeology. The SBA works to address the ongoing systemic exclusion of Black and African scholars from the field of archaeology by providing a network, mentorship, and educational opportunities and programs. The organization’s goal is to prepare Black and African scholars and communities to participate in the documentation, excavation, preservation, and interpretation of Black and African heritage.

The vision of the SBA is to create a strong network of archaeologists that advocates for the proper treatment of African and African diaspora material culture, encourage more people of African descent to enter the field of archaeology, promote community collaborations, address concerns related to African peoples worldwide, and highlights the achievements and contributions made by people of African descent to the field of archaeology.

Canadian Association of Black Journalists

The Canadian Association of Black Journalists (CABJ) is an organization dedicated to promoting representation in the media through education and inspiration. The CABJ aims to bring together Black journalists in an effort to diversify newsrooms, increase the number of Black media professionals in management positions, and educate and inspire a new generation of Black journalists.

To achieve this, the CABJ is focused on advocating for diversity in Canadian media, expanding its membership base, fostering a new generation of Black journalists and content creators, and offering hands-on workshops and other professional development opportunities to Black journalists and content creators.
